Questions people ask

Which provinces are in the Mekong Delta after the 2025 mergers?

From 1 July 2025, Tien Giang joined Dong Thap, Ben Tre and Tra Vinh joined Vinh Long, Soc Trang and Hau Giang joined Can Tho, Kien Giang joined An Giang, and Bac Lieu joined Ca Mau. So My Tho is now in Dong Thap and Ben Tre in Vinh Long.

What time should I visit Cai Rang floating market?

Early. Vietnam News reported in 2016, when the market was named national intangible cultural heritage, that trade peaks around 5 to 6am with 350 to 400 boats. The market is on the river near Can Tho, so an overnight stay makes a dawn visit easier.

Can I see the delta in a day from Ho Chi Minh City?

Yes. Day trips to My Tho and Ben Tre run from about 7am to 5pm, with roughly 90 minutes on the road each way, a motorboat, a hand-rowed sampan and lunch. Can Tho and its floating markets are about 3 hours away, so they suit an overnight trip.
