When are the queues longest?

No government wait-time data was found. In April 2023 VnExpress reported entry and baggage taking up to nearly three hours at the main airports, and in March 2024 tourists were still reporting hours-long immigration queues here, despite automatic gates opened in August 2023.

  • Reported by resellers: priority immigration has been closed to Vietnamese passport holders since 07:00 on 12 Feb 2026. No government notice was found.
  • Pre-Arrival Information has been piloted here since 15 Apr 2026: an online form at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn, encouraged but not mandatory, with no fee listed.
  • International flights start moving to Long Thanh in phases from December 2026; all long-haul international flights move from 28 Mar 2027 under the CAAV plan.
  • In March 2024 the city's tourism department proposed a paid priority service at immigration counters. No such government lane had been confirmed by 14 Oct 2026.

Resellers report that priority immigration for Vietnamese passport holders has been suspended here since 07:00 on 12 Feb 2026, until further notice. We found no government notice of this, so ask the seller before you book if you travel on a Vietnamese passport.

Do I need to fill in the pre-arrival form for Tan Son Nhat?

It is encouraged, not mandatory. Pre-Arrival Information has been piloted here since 15 Apr 2026 at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn, with no fee listed. The Ministry of Public Security has warned of lookalike sites that collect card details, so type that address yourself.

Will my flight land at Tan Son Nhat or at Long Thanh?

Check the airport code on your ticket: SGN is Tan Son Nhat and LTH is Long Thanh. Long Thanh is due to start commercial flights in December 2026, and international flights then move across in phases through 2027.
